About The Junkie

Hello friends! I’m Brenda.

As a kid, I used to hate being dragged into Goodwill with my parents out of childish embarrassment and slight disgust at the prospect of using someone else’s old things. However, through the years, something happened in me that turned me into a bargain-hunting, old-clothes-loving, junkie for junk. A funky junkie, if you will.

I just graduated from Penn State in Hospitality Management, but my real passion was in my English minor, because I love to read and write (especially about clothes and weddings. Unfortunately, Penn State did not offer a major in blogging about clothes and weddings.)

Why do I love reading and writing about weddings? Because on July 9th, I married the man of my dreams!
As photos from our big day become available, you bet your bottom dollar you will see every detail! But until then, I write about life as a newlywed in Virginia, adjusting to and loving every minute of this thing called marriage.

If you stumbled across my blog, maybe you’re looking for DIY wedding ideas. Maybe you’re looking for Goodwill fashions and antique store finds. Maybe you just want to read a funny story. Lucky for you, it’s all here in one convenient place.

So sit back, drink some coffee, and enjoy. And leave me a comment because I like friends!

  1. Stumbled across your blog 🙂 Never went to Goodwill until i was in college. I wanted to shop with my tiny college budget. Enjoying your blog.

  2. Congrats on getting married! I just stumbled on this blog and realized you are Nittany Lion! I’m a newly wed (about a week after you) psu alum too!

  3. Hey Brenda! I don’t know if you remember me from high school (formerly Sarah Haviland)… Anyway, my new husband Kyle directed me to your blog, since I’m in the process of wedding planning (we’re doing things a bit backwards!). Just wanted to say hi; I love finding new blogging friends! 🙂
